The kick-off for the annual ‘Ribs for Kids’ event to be held April 30th, was a great success raising over $7000 in contributions and $500 in the pre-sale of tokens. Donors enjoyed themselves at a party hosted by Danny O’Neill of the Roasterie. Mike McGonigle of McGonigle’s Market, Sean Henry of Soda Vie, Jon Umsted of yummylicious cookie company, and the Alan Voss musical trio contributed to the festivities. Josh Richardson, son of John and Janet Richardson, shared the story of his adoption and his choice to select a new name. Guests were equally impressed by his articulate manner and his handsome and engaging smile. Lori Ross spoke to the attendees about the important programs and services supported by funds generated by the annual ‘Rib’ event. This year there is an emphasis on the pre-sale of tokens for ‘Ribs 4 Kids” and introduction of our fabulous organization to new audiences. 2011 Ribs for Kids

Time: 7:30 a.m. till 6 p.m.

Ribs for Kids is held in support of the families of Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association.
This annual event is a spring celebration that provides a caring community an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of our most vulnerable children.

When you purchase racks of delicious baby back ribs, McGonigle’s will donate $5 (per rack) to Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association. Come anytime between 7:30a and 6p to purchase tokens good for ribs. You can either pick your ribs up right there at the outside bar-b-que*, or save the tokens and enjoy your ribs another day.

Join the celebration, show your support of some pretty terrific kids, and enjoy Kansas City’s finest BBQ!

*Hot ribs are usually available during the middle part of the day. Cold, but fully cooked, ribs are availalbe all day - all you have to do is heat 'em up when you're ready to eat 'em.

By making a donation of $200 or more to MFCAA, you will earn the title of Special Friend. In recognition of your contribution, all Special Friends are invited to our Ribs for Kids GalaThursday, March 31st, from 6p-8p, at the home of Danny O’Neill’s Roasterie Plant, 1204 West 27th Street, where you will enjoy wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, music and an opportunity to meet the Board and other major supporters. By joining, you will provide the promise of forever loving homes for children of our community who have been abused, neglected or abandoned.
