Fundraisers
5th Annual Ribs for Kids Celebration- 5.3/Kansas City
7a-6:30p, McGonigle's Market, 1307 W 79th St/Kansas City, MO
It's almost that time of year again! Soon we'll be grilling on our porches and
relaxing in our lawn chairs. Kick the season off at McGonigle's Market on May 3.
Eat 'em hot or take 'em home for later... however you get your ribs you'll help
contribute to MFCAA and help the families we serve. Each slab of ribs you buy
includes a donation to MFCAA.
Don't like ribs? Don't eat meat? Can't make it on the 3rd? You can still make
a contribution to our biggest fundraiser - just
contact Linda and ask her how.
Update: The Ribs for Kids Fundraiser was a HUGE SUCCESS. Thousands of ribs were sold, and over $40,000 raised (between the Vision for Change, and Ribs for Kid Day fundraisers). Thanks to all who helped, bought ribs, and donated... and don't forget Ribs for Kids in May of '09!
School Supplies - Drive: July 1-Aug. 1
Distribution: Aug. 11, 12, 13 @MFCAA
This isn't technically a fundraiser, but we'll take whatever you want to give,
including funds! We can use Money to buy school supplies, a Gift Card to a store
that sells school supplies, or the Supplies themselves.
The supplies are given to children in foster and adoptive families. If you need
to spend your money buying supplies for your own kids, you can still help. We
need volunteers to help hand everything out. Email
Becky or call her at 816-350-0215 in July,
and let her know you want to help (hours are TBA, but will primarily fall
between 8a-5p on weekdays).
GET SUPPLIES: Please get information and fill out a request form here.
DONATE: If you'd like to donate money, supplies or a gift card (Target, WalMart, etc): you can send donations to MFCAA, Attn: School Supplies Drive, 3210 S Lee's Summit Rd, Independence MO, 64055. Supplies we need: backpacks, notebooks, paper, pencils, pens, pencil boxes, crayons, glue (you can get school supplies lists from most stores that sell them - we need supplies for all KC metro area schools).

Conference
2008 Conference- October 14th-15th
GET MORE INFO AND REGISTER
MFCAA hosts an annual conference with local and national speakers addressing the
most important topics in foster and adoptive care. The conference is a great
opportunity for networking and obtaining required hours for your licensing.
The 6th Annual Conference, which is being co-hosted by UMKC School of Social
Work, focuses on the theme: Integrate! Innovate! Collaborate! Services for
Children and Their Many Families. Children placed in foster care or for
adoption have many families. They are served by a complex web of legal
representatives, educators, and mental health or social service providers. This
two-day conference brings together these parents and those working with them to
learn from each other, to improve their collaboration and to integrate their
efforts.
